Chrono Linzer Hearts

  • 300 g soft spelt flour
  • 100 g baked and freshly ground almonds
  • 225 g butter (room temperature)
  • 1 egg (or 2 if they’re very small)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch of scraped vanilla bar
  • coconut or carob powder for sprinkling

Take the hand mixer and mix the butter, then add egg and vanilla. When mix well add ground almonds and continue mixing. Then gradually add flour mixed with baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Mix until get compact dough which you can form in the ball. Divide into two parts as two discs, wrap into foil and leave in the fridge for two hours. After that time put the dough on floured surface and stretch it on 2 mm using rolling pin. Cut circles for the bottom parts and per your wish cut the dough for the upper parts (hearts, stars, flowers…). Arrange in baking tray covered with baking paper. Bake in preheated oven 10 minutes on 180 degrees. When cool completely fill the bottom parts with some jam without sugar and overlap with upper parts. Sprinkle with coconut or carob powder or cinnamon.
