Smoked Pork Leg In Sour - Sweet Cabbage


  • 1 whole sour cabbage
  • 1 smoked pork leg
  • several kohlrabi
  • 1 long leek
  • sea salt, pepper, paprika, bay leaf
  • pork fat
  • water


This dish is very simple, but it does not get ready fast. The first thing you need to do is to cook smoked pork leg. Wash it and place it in a large pot with plenty of water. Cook for at least an hour. When it’s over, chop it into larger parts. Chop leek and fry it on two tablespoons of pork fat. Peel kohlrabi and cut into slices. Wash whole sour cabbage and also cut it into larger parts. Put in a pot with the leek, then add smoked pork leg and spices: salt (if the cabbage isn’t salt enough), pepper, paprika and bay leaves. Pour little water (just enough to cover the content) and let it to boil. Then reduce the temperature and let it cook on a mild for two hours at least.
