Chrono Dumplings With Sauce And Bacon


For dumplings:

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons integral spelt flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • pinch of sea salt

For sauce:

  • 1/2 onion
  • few capers
  • 2 – 3 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • sea salt, pepper, chili
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil


For the dumplings: whisk eggs in a bowl just using fork, add salt, then gradually add flour constantly mixing to avoid lumps. Then add oil. The mixture should not be too thick, because then the dumplings will be hard. But it should not be too soft so they could fall apart when cooking. Leave in the fridge from 1/2 to 1 hour. Then pour water into pot and salt it a bit. When it boils, take teaspoon and soak it into boiling water and grab a little dough. Use your finger to help the dough to slip into the water. Each time soak teaspoon into boiling water so the dough will not stick to it. When the dumplings float on the surface, let them to cook for a little, turn them few times with teaspoon. Take them out and drain in colander. For the sauce: chop the onion and fry it on olive oil and little water. When onion softens add tomato sauce, capers and spices. Let it cook a bit. Pour sauce over the dumplings and put some fried bacon on the top.
