Scented Butter Loaf


  • 100 g rye flour
  • 100 g barley flour
  • 50 g buckwheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons ground flax
  • 1,5 teaspoon caraway
  • 2 teaspoons dried ground onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 250 ml warm mineral water
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter


Mix flours, salt, spices, olive oil and warm mineral water. Knead the dough and leave overnight or to rest for few hours. Before baking add baking powder and mix well. Moisten your hands with water and form loaf in a baking tray covered with baking paper. Let it be thin and long, about two fingers thick. Cut the surface with the blunt lower part of the spoon and grease well all with melted butter. Put in preheated oven on 180 degrees about one hour. Baking depends on the oven. If the crust is too hard, wrap the bread into wet dish cloth.
